By the time we reached Zion, we had already been quite awestruck by Utah (Arches and Bryce Canyon. Even with such high expectations, Zion national parks left a stark and lasting impression in our minds. A day in Zion gave us an opportunity to fill the a day with numerous hikes with great views.
We started the day early (yes, we have learnt to do that over time :)) and caught a glimpse of the rising sun over the Canyon overlook trail just a few miles from the entrance station. At this point, we were completely unaware of what Zion had up its sleeves.
The “Court of patriarchs” was our first wow moment. The golden hour made its mark and lit up the rocks in bright orange color making it even more majestic.
This is the view from close to the top of “Angels Landing” – a popular hiking trail, that provides spectacular views of the canyons. The hike is only moderately tough for the most part. The last half a mile involves a steep climb holding chains for grips along a narrow-curved-slippery-rocky path en-route to the summit.
Like I mentioned before, these canyons are jaw dropping and the rocks are gigantic. We literally kept saying that all day.
